Illinois Hurricanes and Summer 7's
Parents
1. I am encouraging any of our players to come out and play in the "Graduation Games" on June 5th in Lemont, IL. The purpose of this event is to select players for the Illinois Hurricanes, a select Under-15 side. They will be traveling to Elkhart, IN on June 11th to play in a tournament. If your son is interested, contact Coach Palbicke (deerpathrugby@comcast.net) or Coach Gaye (tom.gaye@comcast.net) for details.
2. We would like to play in a Summer 7's tournament at the Chicago Scots Highland Games which will be held in Itasca, IL on June 17 and 18. In order to enter this tournament, we will need at least 12-14 kids to join us for training and match play. Rugby 7's is a fast paced, 7 on 7 game, played on a full sized pitch. The matches are 14 minutes, divided into 7 minute halves. The game requires speed, stamina and solid tackling skills. If your son is interested, contact Coach Palbicke or Coach Gaye. Training will begin ASAP.

WHY WE PLAY RUGBY
Why We Play Rugby?
In our country, true teams rarely exist...., social barriers and personal ambitions have reduced athletes to dissolute cliques, or individuals thrown together for mutual profit. Yet, these Rugby players, with their muddied, cracked bodies are struggling to hold on to a sense of humanity, that we in America have lost and are unlikely to regain. The game my be only to move a ball forward on a dirt field, but the task can be accomplished with an unshaken joy, and its memory will be a permanent delight. The men who play on that Rugby field are more alive than too many of us will ever be.
